Winona-Ryder
Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter in honor of her hometown. The father of her Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's father is from an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder thinks she's Jewish. The actress also has a half-sister, Sunyata Jubal. Her older sister is Uria. Ryder's family moved from Mendocino County in California at the age of seven years old. Here, they did not have electricity. Ryder was a consummate bookworm and would spend her days reading books as she had no television. Ryder began to take acting classes in the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983, when she was 12 years old. At the age of fifteen, she landed her first part onscreen, playing Lucas. Ryder suffered bullying in her high school. Her thought was that by becoming an actor, her bullying was going to be corrected. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. Still she continued pursuing her goals. Ryder made her breakthrough in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in 1988. Ryder kept playing successful roles in several movies. In 1993 Ryder was twice nominated in the Academy Awards. One of them for her role In The Age of Innocence.
